Internet Safety

What you know about the topic before your research:
- I know that it is important to have internet safety. You have to be careful when you download anything from the internet because it can be very dangerous for your computer and for you.

What you wonder or questions you have about the topic before researching:
- How do I know if my computer is being hacked?
- What else is related to internet safety?
- Why would someone give their phone number, address, etc to a stranger?

Links to where you found the most useful information:
How do I know if my computer is being hacked?
What else is related to internet safety?
Why would someone give their phone number, address, etc to a stranger?

Bullet list of things you learned about the topic:
- Even though you can stay safe if you don't give out personal information and being careful with the things you download from the internet, you are still not completely safe. Links like this one give you cellphone numbers of people. It may not give you the one you want, but it will give you people's numbers.
- People not only hack you with the camera but also just the computer. They see everything you do on your computer.
- The internet is never safe. People can look for anything that has to do with you and you can be found.
- On research tabs, you can have a simple spelling mistake and something totally different of what you wanted to find, appears.
 - People don't see the danger of internet. Some of them just give their numbers out publicly to any stranger cause they think they're going to start dating. It may happen, but there is also a risk of getting robbed, the person might be a pedophile, or just a pervert. It is NEVER safe to give out personal information.
- You always have to be checking the settings of your computer to see if something is going on. To see if someone is hacking you or just watching you.

A short summary of how this topic connects/relates to you or your life:
- This relate to my life, because I always have to be safe and have to be aware of what I'm doing online. I have to be checking to see if there are viruses, people hacking my computer or just to see if I typed something wrong, so I don't see things I don't want to see.

Questions you still have:
- Why don't people realize what the danger of the internet is?
- Why is there sites where people can figure out where you live, what your cellphone number is, and all of those things?

College Exploration on Naviance

Two colleges that I know about and interest me:
- Julliard School of Music
- Berkeley College of Music.

Two colleges I have never heard of but that interest me:
Hartt School of Music
- Indiana University

My GPA:

- Me: 3.2
Berkeley: 3.13
Julliard: 3.0
Hartt School of Music: 3.0
Indiana University: 3.6
In this moment, I'm able to go to Berkeley, Julliard, and Hartt School of Music. If I want to go to Indiana University, I have to raise my GPA 0.4 points more. Also if I want to go to any school of music, I have to take music/singing classes.

What I learned/ how it will affect my habits as a student:

- I learned that from now on, now that I'm in high school, I have to work a lot harder than last year. It counts much more if I want to enter a good college. It will affect me because I'm not that good at doing homework. I'm very lazy, but either way, I do them. I need to stop having that habit and start getting more responsable.

Google 20% Day 3

Goals:
1. Finish putting out project together
2. Edit the parts where we cloned ourselves (the lighting doesn't look good)
3. Green screen had a weird spot, we need to fix that.
4. We overlapped some images. When we did this the pictures looked different. We also have to fix it.

Links:
-Today we didn't use many links, since it was the last day and we needed to edit our video. But, the links we did use were:
Overlapping images
- Green screen
- Cloning

Evidence:
- We took a picture of what we are going to do to fix our overlapping project.

One thing you want to learn next Google day:
- On this Google 20% project, we learned a lot of cool stuff. We learned a lot of skill on how to work with imovie. It is actually really easy and helpful. You don't think it will be because it is a very advanced tool. I never thought it would be easy to manage it, but now that i learned how to use it, it is so helpful.

Google 20% Day 4

Goals:
1. How to change the color of video on imovie.
2. How to use imovie and sync songs to lip sync.
3. How to properly work with green screen.

Links:
How to change the color of video on imovie.
How to use imovie and sync songs to lip sync.
How to properly work with green screen.

Evidence:
- Today I learned how to change the color of the video on imovie. It is extremely simple. So first you take a video of yourself or whatever you want. After that, you import your video to imovie and clip, trim, lighten and do all the things you want to do with it. When you've got your video ready, you double click on a clip. A small window will appear. At the top, it will say clip, video, and audio. There you click on video, and some bars and color will appear. There, you just increase/decrease the saturation, exposure, contrast, and brightness. Then, you can also increase and decrease the red, green, and blue grain. You can choose whatever you want to do with your video. After you're done editing that, you're totally done. You just have to publish your video.
- I also learned how to use imovie and sync songs to lip sync. This is a little more complicated. First you take a video of someone singing. It can be any person. When you video tape it, you let the ,music play while the person is singing. Once you've imported your video to imovie you can start editing. So, when you start editing, the first thing you need to do is put the song on top of the video, even if the words of the song don't match with what the person is singing  Then you need to trim the song. When you've done this, you cut and trim you video so it fits with the words. When you've done this, you're done!
- The last thing I learned today is how to properly work with green screen. It doesn't matter if you don't have a green screen. You can make a really cheap one with green paper. There is instructions on YouTube on how to make one. When you've made it or gotten the green screen ready, you can start working. You make a video of the background you want to have behind you. You put the video and then take a video of you doing whatever you want. After that, on imovie, you put yourself on top of the background.

One thing you want to learn next Google day:
- Next class I don't want to learn anything. What I want to do is to finish applying everything I've learned, to the video. We'e already made the video. Now we have to edit it and finish it. It will seem very professional with all we have learned already.

Google 20% Day 2

Goals:
1. How to overlap and cut music on imovie
2. How to put sound effects in the video
3. How to manipulate text in imovie
4. How to change the color of the video
5. How to put video effects on imovie

Links:
-  How to overlap and cut music on imovie
How to put sound effects in the video
How to manipulate text in imovie
How to put video effects on imovie

Evidence:
- Today I learned how to overlap music on imovie. It is really simple. You click the music icon at the bottom right. Then you choose the song you want to use for your project. After you have put videos or pictures in and it has lasted the whole song, you choose another song. You do exactly the same as you did with the other song, except you put one song on top of the other one. This way there won't be any gaps between songs. But one song will end while the other one is starting. Today I also learned how to put sound effects in video. You click on the icon with the music note. There you will have options of either selecting music or sound effects. You choose sound effects, and select the sound effect that most fits the situation in your video.  You can either put it as a background sound, so you hear it the whole time, or just in one part of the video. Lastly I learned how to manipulate text on imovie. You choose a form of text and then you can change the font, the size of the letter, the color, etc. Another thing I learned today is how to put video effects on imovie, so it looks like you are disappearing, or you can also change the background while the video of you is still playing. I looked at a video of how to make it look like you are a ghost. So first, you take a video of just the background. You also have to make sure nothing is moving. Then you take a clip of you in the same place as the background. You insert the clip of only the background and after that you also insert the one of you but on top of the other one. Then you take the one where you appear on and  fade the image. That's how you look like a ghost.

One thing you want to learn next Google day:
- Some things I want to learn on the next Google day are how to change the color of the video on imovie. Another thing I want to learn next class is about green screen on imovie. How to use it and how you can move around it. The last thing I want to learn on the next Google day, is how to use imovie and sync songs to lip sync. I want to learn how to put it exactly where you should put it, so it looks like you are the person singing the song, and not the artist. Also I want to learn that, so I can put the video with what the song is saying. Not only us singing.

Digital Nation

Disagreements:
1. If we have computers for the whole class we won't be able to pay attention. No, because we can be doing something fun without having to be distracted.
2. Book won't disappear. They are an extremely important part to our education and not ALL can be done with computers. We also need other sources.
3. If you are tall you have a better chance of being successful. Look at Niall Horan. He is normal sized and he is in one of the most successful boy bands all around the world.
4. People are not able to multitask. You may be doing a lot of things but I bet you are not doing anything right.
5. Technology doesn't affect our writing skills. I think it doesn't affect it but neither help us.
6. Internet keeps us from living our normal life. I disagree. Internet is now part of our normal life.
7. Meeting people on the internet may be dangerous but not all the time. You have to be extremely careful when you do it. The person can be someone on the internet, but someone totally different in real life.
8. Although internet is a very big part of everyone's life, we have to learn how to live without it sometimes.
9. Computers aren't more fun than learning. You can also have a lot of fun doing other things and not using the internet,
10. Walking into a class with no media is like walking into a desert, I disagree because it's a little exaggerated It may seem like something really big is missing but you don't die without internet in one class.

Agreements:
1. People are very addicted to internet. To avoid this problem, we should have more education about technology starting t a younger age.
2. Vacations isn't vacations anymore. We are still doing all kinds of things on the internet.
3. People don't need a lot of teaching to know how to use the internet. We just wonder around and check out new stuff.
4. When we are on the computer we are like in another world. We are were we are physically but not mentally.
5. Internet and technology is very addictive. You don't have anything to do on the computer but you are still sitting there staring at the screen.
6. People are using technology in a non responsible way. There is even a woman who quit her job just to play games on the internet.
7. When you are on the internet, no one is supervising what you are doing. You could be looking at anything and no one wil notice.
8. In y opinion, class is more interesting using technology. If we're not using it class becomes more boring because it's not a modern way of learning and we are technically going backwards in educating ourselves with and about technology.
9. Internet is extremely distractive. One moment you are doing homework, and the other you are on tumblr without noticing how fast you changed form one task to the other.
10. Without technology we feel like we are in another world were there is nothing to do and it becomes really boring.

2. Summary of the information you found that answered the question/ topic (this needs to be a well written, informative paragraph or two that others could read and find the answer to the question)
- Finding the right university for you is not very difficult. First you have to think about what your career will be. After that, look for universities that have the career you want to study. Then figure out where you want to study, like city. When you're looking at each university, you also have to think about the environment and the people around you. You have to feel comfortable with the place you are studying in. You also have to be looking at the way they teach. You may not learn that way, and it may cause trouble for your grades and your future life.

3. New questions you have about this topic. (at least 1)
- If I don't like a university, is it easy to get out and apply to another one?
- How will I know if I want a big university or a small one?

Viruses

1. What do you know about the topic before you research?

- There is a text file in every computer called a cookie. It contains your personal information, the sites you have gone to, and information you have entered in those sites.

5. A short summary of how this topic connects/relates to you or your life.
- This topic relates to my life because I always use the internet and I'm always downloading stuff from the internet. This can damage my computer and can also harm me. I need to know how to remove viruses and other dangerous things because I'm always using my computer and I always need it.

6. Questions you still have (at least 1)
- I still have the question of how people can watch you without you noticing. and what the computer starts doing when it gets viruses.

Google Day 1

Goals:
1. Choose the song for the music video
2. Do a rough draft of what we are going to do in the video (effects)
3. Start recording the first part of the song

Links:
- Adding sound effects tutorial
- imovie green screen

1. Song: Call Me Maybe
2. We are going to go around school singing Call Me Maybe and surprising other people. It's going to be a funny video with effects.
3. We couldn't record today because it was raining, but we are going to start making the video at home and putting it together.
Today we learned how to edit videos and crop them, how to put text, and how to put special effects. We started by choosing the song, which is Call Me Maybe. After this we looked at tutorials on how to edit videos and add text to them. After looking at all these videos, we tried and we succeeded. The only thing that we couldn't do was making the music overlap.
Next class we want to learn on how to make music overlap in imovie and how to make green screen also in imovie.

Google 20%

For our Google project, we are going to work with video editing, by using imovie and other video editing sources. We want to learn how to enhance videos and work with them in different ways. We are going to learn how to do this by watching other people's videos. We have always seen music video on the internet and have always wondered "How do they do that?" Those incredible special effects that make everything look different and fun, HOW DO THEY DO THAT?

We are going to show what we learned by making a music video. In this music video we are going to be using special effects and changing the color of the video. We want to make it at least 3 minutes long, but 3 very special minutes. It will be very fun and awesome. People will be surprised on what we are able to make. We will record scenes around the city and then put it together and make a masterpiece.

WATCH OUT.
